Position Announcements

Renmin University of China, located in Beijing, is a top research university in China with strong programs in humanities and social sciences. The School of Education at Renmin University of China (SOE, RUC) was established in November 2011 on the basis of Renmin’s rich educational traditions and through combining the former Institute of Education and the Institute of Higher Education. Under the overall planning and guidance of the "building world-class university" goal at Renmin University of China, the School of Education invites applications and nominations from scholars all over the world for the following positions. Part-time or full-time working periods are negotiable. Initial 3-year contract will be offered for each position, renewable upon mutual agreement.

 

We are particularly interested to hire scholars to teach courses or/and do research in the following fields: higher education, educational administration, comparative education, sociology of education, curriculum studies or other related fields. Scholars with interdisciplinary background other than education, such as sociology, economics, anthropology, psychology, public administration, etc. are welcome to apply. We offer internationally competitive salaries and housing accommodations for those hired. English is the working language. Familiarity with Chinese is not a must, but preferred.

I.                   Research Fellow (2 positions)

Required Qualifications:

l  Earned doctorate in an accredited university. Candidates earning their doctorates by June 2013 will be considered.

l  Demonstrated academic potential through education, scholarship such as publications and conference presentations, and work experience.

l  Evidence of scholarly potential and teamwork spirit with strong commitment to conduct research for publication.

 

Job Responsibilities:

l  No course load, but a lecture is required every semester in addition to advising graduate students

l  Being able to publish papers on SSCI-indexed journals within the 3-year term of employment

l  Being able to lead international research projects or participate in research projects of the School

l  Promoting academic collaboration and exchange between School of Education at Renmin University of China and other schools of education in the world

l  Committed to work full-time

 

II.                Associate/Assistant Professor (2 positions)

Required Qualifications:

l  Earned doctorate in an accredited university. Candidates earning their doctorates by June 2013 will be considered.

l  Demonstrated academic potential through education, scholarship such as publications and conference presentations, and work experience.

l  Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses

l  Evidence of scholarly potential and teamwork spirit with strong commitment to conduct research for publication.

 

Job Responsibilities:

l  Teaching two 2-credit courses every year (one course each semester) and advising graduate students

l  Being able to lead international research projects or participate in research projects of the School of Education

l  Promoting academic collaboration and exchange between School of Education at Renmin University of China and other schools of education in the world

l  Committed to work full-time

 

III.             Professor (2 positions)

Required Qualifications:

l  Record of expertise in higher education, educational administration, comparative education, sociology of education, curriculum studies or other related field

l  Having at least three years of working experience as Associate Professorship or equivalent in an accredited university or research institution

l  Demonstrated academic capacity with a number of publications on recognized academic journals in the field and with grant-obtaining experiences

l  Able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses

 

Job Responsibilities:

l  Teaching two 2-credit courses every year (one course each semester) and advising graduate students

l  Being able to publish papers on SSCI-indexed journals within the 3-year term of employment

l  Being able to lead international research projects or participate in research projects of the School of Education

l  Promoting academic collaboration and exchange between School of Education at Renmin University of China and other schools of education in the world

 

IV.              Senior Professor (multiple positions)

Required Qualifications:

l  Record of expertise in higher education, educational administration, comparative education, sociology of education, curriculum studies or other related field

l  Holding or having held Full Professorship in an accredited university or research institution

l  Record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field, such as publications on top academic journals

l  Demonstrated evidence of excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills.

 

Job Responsibilities:

l  Teaching two 2-credit courses every year (one course each semester) and advising graduate students

l  Being able to publish papers on SSCI-indexed journals within the 3-year term of employment

l  Being able to lead international research projects or participate in research projects of the School of Education

l  Promoting academic collaboration and exchange between School of Education at Renmin

         University of China and other schools of education in the world
